Description
Monthly Dementia Cafes (Courthouse Cafe) are held on the 4th Friday of each month. People living with dementia and their Carers attend. There are guest speakers and discussions, and as with every AFR event, tea and scones. The New Year will see the proposed Dementia Friendly Business Project initiated. This will be a follow on from the previous AFR Business Programme. Roscrea has been identified by Local Authority as an Age Friendly Town and it is critical that this is underpinned by an age friendly /dementia friendly approach to business. Some initiatives that local businesses can introduce would be:
By advertising yourself as an age friendly business, you are letting older people know that you value their custom and you are committed to serving them. Becoming an Age Friendly Business community will help you attract and retain this powerful customer base.
As plans for Age Friendly building projects progress, it is even more critical that the community is seen to support and embrace these initiatives.
